Some security camera users want to put the camera inside the house and position it to face outside to prevent the camera from being stolen easily. However, can eufy security cameras work through windows?

The answer is the Motion detection feature cannot work reliably when the camera is positioned behind glass or windows. eufy security cameras such as eufyCam, eufy SoloCam, eufy IndoorCam and eufy OutdoorCam use Passive Infrared Sensors (PIR) to detect motion, which is inhibited by glass and windows. Passive Infrared sensors work entirely by detecting infrared radiation (radiant heat) emitted by or reflected from objects. Motion detection behind glass will be unreliable since the infrared radiation will not pass through glass.

The outdoor security cameras (eufyCam, eufy SoloCam, eufy OutdoorCam) are meant to be used outdoors and they are weatherproof for that purpose. If you are attempting to detect motion outside, we recommend that you place your outdoor camera outside.
