This product is intended for installation by a professional installer only! Attempts to install this product by a person other than a trained professional may result in severe damage to a vehicle’s electrical system and components.

Learning the buttons:

  • Pressing the lock button for one second will arm the system, and pressing a second time within 5 seconds of the first time will honk the horn.
  • Pressing the unlock button for one second will disarm the system, and pressing a second time within 5 seconds of the first time will honk the horn.
  • Pressing the AUX button will activate a custom feature of your choosing, such as opening the trunk.
  • Pressing the volume button will activate the panic feature. See more about this below.
  • Pressing the lock and unlock button together activates a second AUX feature of your choosing.

Arming the system:

Pressing the lock button for one second arms the system by activating the starter kill (optional) and locking the doors (if connected). The horn will honk (if connected and in audible mode) and the parking lights will flash once to confirm arming of the system. While the system is armed, the status LED will flash once per second. The Failsafe® Starter Kill (if installed) will also prevent the vehicle’s starter from cranking.

Disarming the system:

Pressing the unlock button for one second disarms the system and unlocks the doors (if connected). The horn will honk twice (if connected and in audible mode) and the parking lights will flash twice to confirm disarming of the system. The optional Failsafe® Starter Kill will be deactivated. The status LED will turn off, unless the system is programmed for Passive Mode.

Failsafe®:

While the system is armed, the status LED will flash once per second. The Failsafe® Starter Kill (if installed) will prevent the vehicle’s starter from cranking.

This feature can be deactivated by pressing the unlock button on the key fob.

Passive mode:

Passive mode is a feature that allows for Failsafe® and the door lock mechanisms to be activated if the ignition has not been on for 30 seconds. This means that when the car is turned off, or the systems are deactivated by pressing the unlock button, you have 30 seconds until they are automatically activated.

*Warning* This feature means that you must ensure that you never leave your keys in the car without you.

Disabling the system:

Disabling the system may be necessary if you lose the Viper key or it becomes damaged. To do this, you will require the factory key that belongs to the vehicle. To disarm the security system, turn the ignition to the ON position. Press and release the Valet switch within 10 seconds. The status LED will stop flashing and the vehicle should start. If the vehicle does not start, you may have waited too long; turn the ignition off and repeat the process.

Panic mode:

If you are threatened in or near your vehicle, you can attract attention by triggering the system with your transmitter. Just press the volume button for two seconds to enter Panic Mode. In Panic Mode, the horn will honk, and the parking lights will flash for 30 seconds. To stop Panic Mode at any time, press the volume button on the transmitter again.

Audible mode:

To temporarily turn on the arm or disarm horn honk(s), simply press for less than one second before arming or disarming, and the confirmation honk(s) will be present for that one operation only.

Valet mode:

You can prevent your system from automatically activating the Failsafe® Starter Kill (optional, not included) and locking the doors by using Valet® Mode. This is very useful when washing the vehicle or having it serviced. In Valet® Mode, the starter kill cannot be activated, even with the transmitter, but all convenience functions (door locks, trunk release, etc.) will continue to work normally. To enter or exit valet mode:

  1. Turn the ignition on
  2. Turn the ignition off
  3. Press and release the valet switch within 10 seconds.

Programmable options:

Programming options control your system's normal, operational set-up. Most options do not require additional parts, but some may require additional installation labor. Not all options are available for all cars.

  • Ignition switch controlled door-locking which will lock all doors 3 seconds after ignition is turned on.
  • Comfort closure which will allow you to close all windows and sunroof by holding down the lock button on the remote.
