Why does the eufy app need my location service turned on?

Modified on Tue, 11 Nov at 3:37 PM

Please note granting eufy app the access to your device’s location is required by Android or Apple smartphones, depending on the device you have.

Note: eufy customers’ privacy and security have always been eufy’s top priorities, and your data will not be exposed to third-party without your permission. Please visit eufy’s Privacy Policy for detailed information.

For Android devices

Android devices that are running Android 6.0 or newer will need to enable location service due to the requirement of the Android system. This is mainly to allow the eufy app and your eufy device to be connected to your Android phone, and the pairing process will fail if proper permissions are not granted.

For Apple devices

Apple has made changes to further protect user privacy and prevent unauthorized location tracking. Apple devices that are running iOS 13 or newer will need to enable location service in order to grant apps proper permissions, otherwise, the eufy app will not be able to obtain the correct WiFi network to be able to successfully connect eufy devices.
