Have you wondered why your eufySecurity device detects non-human motion at night when you have the Human Only setting enabled? Or why is your device’s motion detection more sensitive at night? This is mainly due to the working logic of different eufySecurity devices’ motion detection during the day and at night.

When the user has already selected All Motions under the device’s Detection Type, the device will always function under the All Motions setting and it will not automatically switch to Human Only. Please note this may result in excessive motion detection notifications and impact the battery life of your battery-powered device. For detailed descriptions of each mode’s working logic, please refer to the following explanations.

All Motions

eufySecurity devices function based on Passive Infrared (PIR) motion sensors and detect the heat signatures that are emitted by both humans and non-human objects. As a result, eufySecurity devices are able to detect motion alerts triggered by both humans and non-human objects. Although PIR sensors may lead to false motion detection, the device’s detection sensitivity can be adjusted by configuring the motion sensitivity using the eufy app.

Human Only

eufySecurity devices function based on eufy’s proprietary AI algorithm, which includes facial and body-shape analysis, in order to determine whether motions are being triggered by humans or other factors. As a result, eufySecurity devices are able to differentiate between humans and non-human objects to minimize the likelihood of triggering false motion alerts.

Note: Information in the following charts are applicable only when the default setting is set to Human Only under the device’s Detection Type. Some of the devices will automatically switch from Human Only during the day to All Motions at night time, and then automatically revert back to Human Only during the day.
