What is so important about the maximum output voltage of a source unit?


Maximum output voltage 


Maximum output voltage is the measured output of the preamp section of a source unit rated in AC Volts. Higher "unclipped" output voltages like in the RFX source units are desirable when selecting a source unit. There is no fix for a source unit that "clips" before reaching maximum output.This is a function of how well the power supply is designed and built in the source unit. 


A High output "unclipped" source unit voltage allows most amplifier gains to be set at a minimum and still drive the amplifier to full output. This also reduces the overall noise in the system.
