Wiring mono amps having two (A & B) outputs

Modified on Thu, 28 Nov, 2024 at 12:18 PM

How do I wire woofers to my mono amplifier when it has two sets (A & B) of speaker outputs?

Several Rockford Fosgate Mono amplifiers, especially models 2004 and newer, have two sets of speaker terminals.

These amplifiers are single ended amplifier designs and therefore consist of only one amplifier channel. They are not two channel amplifier designs internally bridged. Two Positive (+) and Negative (–) terminals are provided for installation flexibility. Both terminals are wired in parallel internally. Only one Positive (+) and one Negative (–) terminal is required for a speaker connection.

In the below diagram, there are four possible wiring combinations having the same result; they each provide the amplifier with a Mono 2-Ohm woofer load.
